PhilHealth ID distributed in 32 barangays

It's quite painful for a person to get sick and has nowhere to go for treatment or buy medicines.

This is no longer a big problem since Mayor Zayco started distributing Philhealth IDs to

the beneficiaries in 32 barangays of the city of Kabankalan in June. It was Mayor Zayco who personally distributed the IDs in the barangays. With him were Vice Mayor Raul C. Rivera, SPM Delia O. Anacan, SPM Ricardo Regalia, Jr. and CSWD officer Adelina A. Tomaro.

The Philhealth Para sa Masa Indigent Program is a project of the city government with an appropriation of P4 M. So far, it has already benefited 5,835 beneficiaries in the 32 barangays of the city.

The out-patient beneficiaries can avail of P500 worth of free medicine. The City Health Office will assess and help them procure medicine at Mercury Drug Store.

Patients confined at Philhealth accredited hospitals can avail of a hospital package that includes discounts on room, drugs and medicine, laboratories and professional/doctors fees.

Less expenses, less effort and less trouble. It was really a big opportunity for those planning to go abroad when a two-day mobile passport services were held in Kabankalan City recently.

This activity was a joint effort of DFA, POEA, NSO and OWWA with the participation of DYBQ of Radyo Agong.

The activity was kicked off with a short program held at the City Hall function hall. Liza Jane V. Estalilla, regional director, DFA and Norman Julag-ay, regional director, NSO, were the speakers.

In his welcome remark, Mayor Pedro P. Zayco stressed this activity was facilitated by the city government of Kabankalan and the Province. It was one way of bringing the government closer to the people, the mayor said.

There were around 230 passport applications submitted on the two-day activity, said Elma Bachita, coordinator. The approved passports were released on July 1, 2005.

On the same day, Mayor Zayco turned over a check in the amont of P180,000 as cash assistance to the Barangay Vaccinators Association under the City Agriculture Department. Part of this amount will help finance their rodeo presentation in the coming 8 th Charter Day celebration of Kabankalan City on July 27.
